Solid Joys

Savior, if of Zion’s city, I through grace, a member am, let the world deride or pity, I will glory in Thy name; Fading is the worldling’s pleasure, all his boasted pomp and show; solid joys and lasting treasure none but Zion’s children know.
– John Newton, from his hymn, “Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken”

Different Religions

In Christianity the aim of the theologian is to deduce the doctrines from their Scriptural matrix and arrange them in systematic, logical form. The Christian religion is intellectual in nature. Ignorance, emotion, and unintelligibilty are not even a map for the road, let alone the road itself or the destination. The difference between the Christian religion and the neo-orthodox, existential, anti-intellectual religion is as great as the difference between Christianity and Buddhism.”
-Gordon H. Clark from his “An Introduction to Christian Philosophy”, p.122
